In November of 2019, Weatherly continued our annual tradition of setting up a cheering station for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walkers! The team dusted off our hot pink gear and handed out licorice treats and water to the walkers as they passed our office. Each year, we look forward to seeing our town turn pink in honor of raising money and awareness for breast cancer research. Since 2003, the Susan G. Komen walk has raised more than $848 million dollars for the cause. With every step, we get closer to the cure and we are proud to show our support for those who take on the challenge! Check out http://the3day.org/ to learn more about the walk!

In the 2017-2018, the SDHS served over 67,000 animals through pet adoptions, wildlife rehabilitation, community spay/neuter service and more. This year, thanks to the support of our communities, the SDHS is on their way to serving even more animals per year! In the fall of 2019, our team paid a visit to the Gaines Street campus of this great organization for a behind the scenes tour and afternoon of volunteering. We spent time socializing a few of the resident bunnies, made dog toys, and sorted food for the PAWS program whose focus is providing animal services and products to under served communities in San Diego, allowing many the ability to keep their pets when they otherwise wouldn’t be able to. On the 18th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, Weatherly remembers the lives of those we lost on that tragic day in American history, as well as their families and those still suffering with illness due to exposure to toxins during rescue efforts. This past weekend, a few members of the Weatherly crew honored those lost by volunteering at the 9/11 San Diego Stair Climb, a living memorial to the lives of the fallen Emergency Responders that jumped into action on that September morning. Proceeds from the Stair Climb go FirefighterAid, a San Diego based organization that provides charitable assistance to Firefighters and their families in crisis. This holiday season, Weatherly celebrated by hosting our first ever Community Food Drive! Weatherly partnered with Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bankt o organize this community service activity. This food bank works to provide food and resources to the 1 in 8 San Diegans who face hunger and food insecurity every day. Over the span of a month at the end of 2018, the Weatherly team collected over 100 pounds of food and helped Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank provide 87 meals to community members in need. Weatherly had the pleasure of once again cheering on the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walkers as they started their 60-mile journey to raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. We showed our support by donning Susan G. Komen pink and handing out snacks, water and messages of encouragement on Camino del Mar as the walkers passed the Weatherly office. To close out the summer of 2018, the Weatherly team put in work to clean up our local beaches! Our crew of beach lovers are passionate about keeping our oceans and waterways free of trash, so we decided to host a beach cleanup in Del Mar, through Ocean Conservancy using the Clean Swell app. The Ocean Conservancy created the Clean Swell app in 2016 to make keeping our oceans clean fun and easy. This quarter, our team made our annual visit to Feeding America, San Diego headquarters. For our day of volunteering, we helped the distribution center sort over 6,000lbs of tomatoes and prepped them to be delivered to various food distribution locations within the San Diego County. Amid environmental crises, and the daily struggles families face with hunger, our team was reminded of the huge impact this organization has on the community.

It’s that time of year again! The Susan G. Komen 3 Day walk came to San Diego this past weekend and the Weatherly Crew got the chance to cheer on the walkers as they started their 60-mile trek in Del Mar. The team got all dressed up in pink and handed out water to the walkers to show our support for the cause! Please visit the Susan G. Komen San Diego website at http://komensandiego.org to learn more!

This quarter, our crew of animal lovers spent an afternoon volunteering at the Helen Woodward Animal Center. Helen Woodward Animal Center is located in Rancho Santa Fe and has been in the business of saving animals in San Diego county and beyond for over 45 years! The Weatherly team was able to help with a few paint jobs around the property and take some time to play with some of their adorable animals. Each year, The Susan G. Komen 3 Day walk comes to San Diego and Weatherly Asset Management gets a front row seat! This November, we set up a refreshment stand and decked ourselves out in pink gear to show support and encouragement for the walkers who set out to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.
